Global warming? Or an Ice Age? Flip a coin and decide

Russian scientist predicts global cooling

MOSCOW, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- A Russian scientist predicts a period of global cooling in coming decades, followed by a warmer interval.

Khabibullo Abdusamatov expects a repeat of the period known as the Little Ice Age. During the 16th century, the Baltic Sea froze so hard that hotels were built on the ice for people crossing the sea in coaches.

The Little Ice Age is believed to have contributed to the end of the Norse colony in Greenland, which was founded during an interval of much warmer weather.

Abdusamatov and his colleagues at the Russian Academy of Sciences astronomical observatory said the prediction is based on measurement of solar emissions, Novosti reported. They expect the cooling to begin within a few years and to reach its peak between 2055 and 2060.

"The Kyoto initiatives to save the planet from the greenhouse effect should be put off until better times," he said. "The global temperature maximum has been reached on Earth, and Earth's global temperature will decline to a climatic minimum even without the Kyoto protocol."

I'm really bummed that the Illinois Ren Faire in Danville has been postponed until next year. I always have a fun time and I was looking forward to it. :(

Hell has frozen. Metallica is on iTunes! Can you believe they actually gave in? Oh and you can also download the pilot for Aquaman. :D

I honor of the summer movie season...

You scored as Nightcrawler. Nightcrawler is a very symbolic X-Man. He is persecuted by society because of his devilish looks, but it is his faith in God that gives him strength. He is a very gentle x-man but he does know how to fight and he enjoys fencing. Powers: Teleportation

My Apple Powerbook died on Saturday. The screen went white then black. It was horrible. I hoped it was only the screen, but no it wouldn't hook up to any other screen and wouldn't network with another computer. I was so sad. I had a headache that lasted for days. :'(

Then Monday I went to the Apple Store. It was raining as I drove there, but when I started walking to the store, I saw a rainbow. Suddenly I had hope.

I sat and waited at the Genius Bar for a technician to look at it. Yes, it is dead they said and it would cost $$$ for them to open up the machine and try to get the info off of the drive. My heart sank. However, then the genius said that he would get the data off for free if I bought a new MacBook. Yay! Give me my new MacBook Pro with all of the fun widgets! <3 <3

Yesterday, I picked up my pretty new Mac Book Pro with all of my old info on it. Happy Happy Joy Joy! Of course that forgot to put in the poweradapter so I had to go back to the store again. Nothing could upset me at this point though :)

First of all, did you hear about this? Pretty Crazy.

Fla. Teen Dies After Sword Falls on Him

BRANDON, Fla. -- A teenager who kept a 29-inch sword displayed on his bedroom wall has died after the weapon fell and slashed his shoulder and neck, authorities said.

Joshua Hershberger, 15, was in his bedroom with two younger siblings Monday night when a ball they were bouncing knocked the sword off the wall, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

So I made it through the first weekend of Ft. Myers. It really really sucks when fighters drop out at the last minute. Kudos to swtncute2  for making it to all of the shows and cast calls ;-)

It was great seeing proshowoff and all my other ren friends there. Looking forward to seeing lordsnotrag next weekend.

My character work was a little slow on Sat., but Sunday there was Princess Bat Fairy who wanted me to chase her around all day. I think I need to start working out more so that I can handle chasing little fairies around the festivals all day.

I'm also excited because I get to be the official model for the Rat Catcher t-shirts. I know you all are so jealous ;-)

So I have survived Hurricane Wilma. I still don't have power, but I have power at work. Thankfully I have a generator and natural gas fueled appliances so I have hot water, a working stove, and a working refrigerator. Hopefully we will have power soon. My neighbor has power, but they are in a different city and power line, so who knows how long it will take. All of my friends seem to be okay thankfully. People in Miami have been behaving surprisingly well. Most have stopped at the intersections with no traffic lights like they are supposed to. Gas lines are pretty bad. Expect to wait about 2 hours. That should get better though as more power comes back on. The photo is of the cover of a local free paper. :)

Pythons are getting out of control here in Fla. First a python tries to eat a gator Full story and then one eats Frances the family cat Full Story. Now one ate a turkey Full story. It annoys me greatly that people get these snakes as pets and when they grow too big for them to handle, they dump them in the everglades or in an empty lot. These are not native animals, and if they are able to kill gators who are at the top of the food chain, this could really mess with the eco system.

I'm not a big tree-hugger, but stupid people annoy me. :)
